The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Veterans Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thomas County Central has six straight wins, Veterans has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Thomas County Central didn't have too much trouble with Lee County as they won 35-21. Give the Yellow Jackets' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.

Christian Lawrence produced another solid effort rushing for 210 yards and one TD while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 54 receiving yards and one score. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 106.8 rushing yards per game. Jaylen Johnson was another key player, throwing for 169 yards and three touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thomas County Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Another reason for the win was Thomas County Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Cam Brooks was especially locked on to Lee County's QB and sacked him 2.5 times. Prince Che was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making eight total tackles (4.0 for loss), and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, Veterans had to suffer through a 49-10 loss at the hands of Houston County. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Bears are ranked 26th).
Veterans' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Thomas County Central, their record is now 6-0.
Everything came up roses for Thomas County Central against Veterans when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-10 victory. In that matchup, the Yellow Jackets amassed a halftime lead of 38-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
