Basketball Recap: Jaideon Peterson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Quitman County over Miller County

Quitman County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost an 87-83 heartbreaker at the hands of the Miller County Pirates. Even if the Hornets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Quitman County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaideon Peterson, who went 10-for-23 on his way to 25 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Peterson has become a key player for the Hornets: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Christopher Johnson, who shot 47% from the field en route to 20 points and six rebounds.

Quitman County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Miller County, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
