Recap: Lanett Panthers vs. Reeltown Rebels

If the Lanett Panthers were riding high off their 77-54 takedown of the Loachapoka Indians last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lanett took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reeltown on Thursday. Lanett was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Reeltown apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Reeltown was led to victory by Finn Henderson and Demetrius Brown. Henderson scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Brown dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Brown pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jake Hornsby was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.

Lanett has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Reeltown, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanett will square off against LaFayette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. LaFayette presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lanett in Alabama (LaFayette is ranked 115th, while Lanett is ranked 305th). As for Reeltown, they will head out on the road to challenge Horseshoe Bend at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
