Softball Recap: Fruitvale Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Fruitvale challenged Big Sandy on Tuesday. Fruitvale walked away with a 5-2 victory over Big Sandy.

Kyla Bain made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ronnye Tull, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Shelby Dry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Fruitvale's record is now 5-7-1. As for Big Sandy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Fruitvale will have a chance to go back-to-back against Big Sandy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
