Baseball Game Preview: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Oakland Tech Bulldogs

The Piedmont Highlanders will square off against the Oakland Tech Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Piedmont's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Oakland Tech's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Oakland Tech will be up against a hot Piedmont squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Highlanders came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against Alameda.

The team relied heavily on Diego Delventhal, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jonah Cha-Foster, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Oakland Tech's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 17-8 to Skyline. Even though they lost, the Bulldogs' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Elijah Rucker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Hayden Burton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Oakland Tech, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-7.
