Baseball Game Preview: Grandview Heights Bobcats vs. Centennial Stars

The Grandview Heights Bobcats will face off against the Centennial Stars at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Grandview Heights will be strutting in after a victory while Centennial will be coming in after a loss.

Grandview Heights is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They skirted past Westland 6-5. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Sam Bandy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Centennial suffered their closest defeat since April 13, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Whetstone by a score of 9-7.

Jayden Hammond put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Hammond was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Anthony Alton was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Grandview Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against Centennial when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Stars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
