Football Recap: Alcorn Central Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Alcorn Central's offense. They were dealt a 55-0 defeat at the hands of the North Pontotoc Vikings on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Drew Winfun had a dynamite game For North Pontotoc., throwing for 261 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Those 261 passing yards gave Winfun a new career-high. Cooper Warren was Winfun's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and one score.

Alcorn Central now has a losing record of 1-2. As for North Pontotoc, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alcorn Central will face off against Walnut at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Pontotoc, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kossuth at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
