Soccer Game Preview: Poly vs. Grant

The Poly Parrots will head out on the road to challenge the Grant Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poly's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Poly is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology on Friday. Poly fell just short of Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Parrots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 865th, while the Griffins are ranked 230th).

Meanwhile, Grant fell victim to Arleta and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 3-0.

Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for Grant, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.

Poly beat Grant by a goal in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
