Polytechnic extends road losing streak to five

The Polytechnic Parrots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Arlington Heights on the road and fell 72-20. While losing is never fun, Polytechnic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1477th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 475th).

When it comes to explaining why Polytechnic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sofia Castro. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. That was a full 75% of Polytechnic's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Polytechnic's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.2 points per game. As for Arlington Heights, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polytechnic will take on the Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Arlington Heights, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trimble Tech and the Yellowjackets are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
