Softball Game Preview: Harker Eagles vs. Mercy Bears

Harker is 0-10 against Mercy since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Harker's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Mercy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Harker fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Independence on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the 76ers by a score of 7-6. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mercy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Burlingame, falling 11-5.

Aveline Anderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mercy's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Harker, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Harker suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Mercy when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
