Soccer Game Preview: Merritt Island vs. Satellite

The Merritt Island Mustangs will square off against the Satellite Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Merritt Island is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Rockledge by a score of 3-1.

Kaci Underwood and Zoe Flakus scored all three of Merritt Island's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, Satellite entered their tilt with Titusville on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Terriers onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won nine games by three goals or more so far this season.

Satellite is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matchups. As for Merritt Island, the win got them back to even at 5-5-3.

Merritt Island beat Satellite by a goal in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Merritt Island since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
