2023-24 MaxPreps Junior All-America Team: Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey headlines high school girls basketball's best from the Class of 2025

Our look at high school basketball's best from the 2023-24 season continues with the MaxPreps Junior All-America Team, headlined by National Junior of the Year Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey (Lubbock, Texas).

Chavez was among the nation's leading scorers according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, averaging 37.8 points per game while leading Monterey to a 31-6 record. She topped the 50-point mark five times, including a high of 57 in a non-league matchup against Plano.

In addition to her scoring exploits, Chavez averaged 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.5 steals per contest.

The 5-foot-10 guard surpassed 3,000 career points this season. She has narrowed her college choices to Arizona, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA and USC.

Selections are based on team success, individual production and local, regional and state honors from the recently-completed season. Potential at the college and professional level is not a primary consideration. Players in post-graduate and non-scholastic programs are not eligible for inclusion.
First Team

The seventh player to win Ohio Ms. Basketball honors twice, she led the Cavaliers to a 28-1 record and third straight Division II championship. Averaged 18.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game, shooting 64 percent from the field. Alexander is 81-4 in her Purcell Marian career and a repeat MaxPreps All-American.



Sienna Betts, Grandview (Aurora, Colo.)
6-4 | Center | Junior | UCLA

Led the Wolves to the Class 6A tournament, averaging 22.5 points, 15.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She shot 64 percent from the field and joins sister Lauren as MaxPreps All-Americans.

Led the Crusaders to a 29-1 record, second straight Non-Public B state title and No. 8 finish in the final MaxPreps Top 25. Averaged 19.9 points, 5.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game, shooting 56 percent from the field.

The MaxPreps Minnesota Player of the Year averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game as the Skippers went 29-2 and won the Class AAAA state title.

Lanie Grant, James River Midlothian (Midlothian, Va.)

The five-star prospect earns Junior All-America honors even though she recently re-classed to the Class of 2024 to enroll early at Chapel Hill. She averaged 28.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists while leading the Rapids to a 25-4 mark and runner-up finish in the VHSL Class 5 bracket.

The floor general for the MaxPreps National Champions, Morris averaged 16.1 points, 5.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game.

Emilee Skinner, Ridgeline (Millville, Utah)

Led the Riverhawks to a 25-2 record and second straight Class 4A title, averaging 24.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.6 steals per game.

Averaged 19.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the VISAA Division 1 state champions.

Caffey hasn't lost in her high school career as the Red Knights own the nation's longest win streak at 131 games. She averaged 14.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.3 assists per game, helping the program win its seventh straight Class 6 state title.

Returned to action after missing her sophomore season with a knee injury, averaging 15.9 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per night for the Open Division state champions.

Nearing 2,000 career points, she averaged 19.6 points and 9.2 rebounds as her team went 30-3 and reached the 6A regional semifinals.

Averaged 20.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Class 1A state champions, who went 33-1 and finished on an 18-game win streak.

Produced 13.7 points, 5.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Class AAA state champions, who finished 32-2 and ranked No. 10 nationally.

Led the Matadors (28-3) to the Class 5A title, averaging 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.4 steals per game. In a 49-45 win over Volcano Vista (Albuquerque) in the championship, she scored a game-high 35 points – including 18 in the fourth quarter.
