Football Game Preview: Saugus Centurions vs. Golden Valley Grizzlies + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Ty Hall and Aaron McCormick are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Saugus Centurions will be playing at home against the Golden Valley Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Golden Valley will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Saugus extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Centurions took their contest with ease, bagging a 48-19 win over Castaic. Given the Centurions' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Coyotes are ranked 845th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

One reason for the win was Saugus' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up 0.5 apiece ( Elijah Ham, Ruy Maldonado, David Asomugha, Travis Alas, Elvis Encinas, and Clarence Carlisle also recorded half a sack).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Golden Valley). They strolled past West Ranch with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 43-28. The Grizzlies pushed the score to 36-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Saugus' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Golden Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Saugus couldn't quite get it done against Golden Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 44-35. Thankfully for the Centurions, Jamison Torres (who rushed for 272 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 76 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
