Volleyball Recap: Ryan Comes Up Short

Ryan was the 3-0 winner over Richland when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Royals by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Ryan came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 18-16.

Despite the loss, Ryan still got an impressive performance from Abigail Vasquez, who had 27 digs and nine assists. Vasquez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 16 games she's played.

Ryan's defeat dropped their record down to 17-19. As for Richland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-21.

Ryan and Richland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Raiders (ranked 344th) will meet Grapevine (ranked 155th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Richland will square off against Birdville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (487 vs. 26).
