Football Recap: Rocky Ford Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Byers, Rocky Ford was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Front Range Christian Falcons by a score of 22-14. For the Meloneers, this counts as revenge for the 58-26 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Juan Murillo threw for 186 yards and one TD on only 17 passes. Xavier Preciado was his top target, picking up 93 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Oscar Ramirez rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores.

Despite the loss, Front Range Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lawson Edwards rushed for 126 yards on only 14 carries, and also threw for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Corbin Rounds.

The victory got Rocky Ford back to even at 1-1.

After each having a week off, Rocky Ford and Walsenburg will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Front Range Christian, they will head out on the road to take on West Grand at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
