Basketball Game Preview: Garrett Morgan Falcons vs. Holy Name Green Wave

The Garrett Morgan Falcons will square off against the Holy Name Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Garrett Morgan will be strutting in after a win while Holy Name will be coming in after a defeat.

Garrett Morgan took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They secured a 41-35 W over Christian Community.

Garrett Morgan found their leader in sophomore Anylaih Moore, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Moore is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Fatuma Abdi was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight steals and six boards.

Garrett Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Holy Name was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 57-52 to Cloverleaf. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Colts are ranked 121st).

The victory got Garrett Morgan back to even at 4-4. As for Holy Name, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Garrett Morgan was dealt a bruising 77-46 loss at the hands of Holy Name in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holy Name's Claire Coljohn, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds.
