Baseball Recap: Omaha Central Comes Up Short

If Omaha Central was riding high fresh off their 14-0 takedown of Louisville on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimson Pride apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Joe Dougherty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Omaha Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Demman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Omaha Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Roncalli Catholic, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Omaha Central will challenge rival Lincoln Southeast at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Roncalli Catholic is set to face off against their familiar foe Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
