Baseball Game Preview: Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish vs. Powell Panthers

The Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish will take on the Powell Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Knoxville Catholic will be strutting in after a win while Powell will be coming in after a loss.

Knoxville Catholic will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Farragut, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Knoxville Catholic walked away with an 8-3 victory over Farragut on Monday.

Manny Maurer looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Nick Turner was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Alex Ditmore was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Powell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 7-2 to Grace Christian Academy.

Knoxville Catholic's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Powell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Knoxville Catholic beat Powell 6-3 when the teams last played last Monday. Will Knoxville Catholic repeat their success, or does Powell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
