Softball Recap: Weir Falls Short of Frankfort in the Playoffs

Weir and Frankfort squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Weir had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-3. The Red Riders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

This is the second loss in a row for Weir and nudges their season record down to 28-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 26-5 Winfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 90.3% over those games). As for Frankfort, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 29-1.

Weir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Frankfort, they will square off against Winfield at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 1.2, the Generals 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
