Softball Preview: Creekside Knights vs. Bartram Trail Bears

The Creekside Knights will head out on the road to take on the Bartram Trail Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Creekside is looking to tack on another W to their 11-game streak on the road dating back to last season.

Creekside stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Columbia as Creekside made off with a 14-4 win.

Kaylee Martineau made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Martineau has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Martineau was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bella Campbell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Riley Waters was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Bartram Trail earned a 9-4 victory over Bolles on Wednesday. The win was just what Bartram Trail needed coming off of a 17-3 defeat in their prior contest.

Bartram Trail let Joslyn Goebeler and Addison Maliga loose on the outfield. Goebeler scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Maliga scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Strub, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Creekside's record is now 15-3. As for Bartram Trail, their record is now 7-9.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. Creekside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Bartram Trail struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
