Football Game Preview: Moody Blue Devils vs. Springville Tigers + Official Tickets

Moody is 8-1 against Springville since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Devils will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Moody's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Springville has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

While Moody's victory against Leeds wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils skirted past the Greenwave 25-22.

A big part of Moody's win came down to the chemistry between Jake Lowery and his top target Josiah Dozier. Lowery threw for 195 yards and three TDs while Dozier picked up 118 receiving yards and three scores. That's the most receiving touchdowns Dozier has posted since back in November of 2024.

Moody's defense made their presence known, laying out Sam Lollar seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Baroc Willis and Dezron Mobley, who racked up four sacks between them. Willis is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Joshua Willet was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Springville had taken St. Clair County down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Tigers came up short against the Fighting Saints, falling 42-21. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Fighting Saints are ranked 70th).

Despite the defeat, Springville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Noah Hampton rushed for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 258 yards while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. 90 of those passing yards were hauled in by Trigg Murdoch.

Moody's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Springville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Moody against Springville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-13 win. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
