Basketball Recap: Daxton Burroughs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santana over Valhalla

Santana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 56-48 to the Valhalla Norsemen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Norsemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-35 two weeks ago.

Several Sultans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daxton Burroughs, who posted four points and four steals. Burroughs has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Caine Lawless, who put up eight points.

It was another big night for SAMEER MONQAD, who went 12 of 26 en route to 33 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Valhalla. The dominant performance gave MONQAD a new career-high in steals. Aiden Findqly was another key player, putting up nine points.

Santana's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Valhalla, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Santana has already played their next game, a 61-19 win against El Cajon Valley on the 4th. As for Valhalla, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-48 victory against Castle Park on the 1st.
