Baseball Recap: Kingsbury Falcons vs. Overton Wolverines

Kingsbury had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-11-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Overton Wolverines, falling 16-7. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-4 defeat two weeks ago.

Christopher Woodruff was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Deyber Lovera Marin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Overton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7-1. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Overton's side, Sammy Kehrli made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Kehrli has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julian Tallent was incredible, firing off two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquel Brooks, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
