Baseball Recap: Willow Spring Comes Up Short

Willow Spring fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Apex on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 9-8. The Storm were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

Gio Tafalla was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Corey Kinard II, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Willow Spring now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Apex, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Willow Spring will challenge Southwest Guilford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Cowboys have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Apex, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Green Level at 4:00 p.m. on April 7.
