Basketball Recap: Great Bridge Comes Up Short

Great Bridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nansemond River Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while the Warriors are ranked 45th).

Great Bridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Nansemond River, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Bridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hickory will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Great Bridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nansemond River, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Indian River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nansemond River knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Indian River likes a good challenge.
