Volleyball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Hamilton Southeastern

Westfield faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Shamrocks fell just short of the Royals by a score of 3-2. If the Shamrocks were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Royals when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The 3-2 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Westfield lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 20-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-13.

Paige Rudolph paced Westfield's offense, picking up 18 kills. Rudolph got some help from Emily Blevins and her 31 assists. Kendyl Strack controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Mia Walpole was the offensive standout of the contest as she had ten digs and three assists. Those ten digs gave her a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Westfield fell to 15-1. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield will face off against Mt. Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they will challenge Plainfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
