Vail Christian is 9-1 against West Grand since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Vail Christian Saints will face off against the West Grand Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Vail Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.

Vail Christian is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Vail Mountain on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Vail Christian came up short against Vail Mountain, falling 72-51. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Gore Rangers are ranked 98th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jack O'Shaugnessy, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Leonard, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Vail Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, West Grand came up short against Caprock Academy on Friday and fell 41-30. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Vail Christian will have to keep a close watch on Sanjay Geffers and Stran Lechman, a pair of players who had a big impact on West Grand's prior game. Geffers put up 17 points, while Lechman had nine points.

West Grand's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Vail Christian, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Vail Christian against West Grand in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 74-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vail Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
