Football Recap: Copperas Cove Bulldawgs vs. Harker Heights Knights

Copperas Cove lost against Harker Heights back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs had to suffer through a 49-21 loss at the hands of the Harker Heights Knights. While losing is never fun, the Bulldawgs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Knights are ranked 96th).

Defeat or not, Copperas Cove got some senior leadership from Anthony King and Trishstin Glass. King threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.8% of his passes, while Glass picked up 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns. King's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 315 passing yards.

A big part of Harker Heights' win came down to the chemistry between Hudson Humble and his top target Tyler (Tj) Johnson. Humble threw for 247 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes while (Tj) Johnson picked up 158 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Harker Heights also got a significant boost from C2 Evans, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 118 yards.

Copperas Cove now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Harker Heights, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Shoemaker the next time they take the field. Copperas Cove will head out to face Shoemaker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Harker Heights will host them at 7:30 p.m. on November 1st.
