Basketball Game Preview: Green Mountain Rams vs. Palmer Ridge Bears

The Green Mountain Rams will square off against the Palmer Ridge Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Green Mountain sitting on 21 straight wins and Palmer Ridge on four.

Green Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They breezed past Sierra to the tune of 66-24. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Green Mountain found their leader in sophomore Ella Cockrum, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points along with seven steals and six boards. With that strong performance, Cockrum is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Addie Evans, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Palmer Ridge didn't have too much trouble with Summit on Saturday as they won 50-35. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Tigers are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Green Mountain better focus on containing Corinna Arellano and Lucy Zamborelli as the pair were huge in Palmer Ridge's win. Arellano scored 13 points, while Zamborelli put up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Steenland, who earned eight points.

Green Mountain's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points on average over those games. As for Palmer Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
