Basketball Recap: Nijel Trice's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Friendly over Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North

Friendly lost against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Friendly Patriots fell 63-52 to the Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Tigers are ranked 103rd).

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nijel Trice, who posted nine points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Joel Danquah, who earned 17 points.

Devin Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North, going 9-for-15 on his way to 23 points. Amir Morton was another key player, putting up nine points and seven assists.

Friendly's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Friendly will take on Potomac at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Friendly is facing Potomac at the right time seeing as Potomac is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North, they will head out to take on Surrattsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Surrattsville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight defeats, while Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North will come in with three straight victories.
