Baseball Recap: Caldwell Academy Comes Up Short

Caldwell Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Calvary Day School on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 11-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Amari Stout and Brett Bullins stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stout got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base, while Bullins went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Bullins is becoming a predictor of Caldwell Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 1-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Neal Swindell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Caldwell Academy dropped their record down to 8-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Calvary Day School, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Caldwell Academy beat the Cougars by a score of 9-8 on Thursday.
