Volleyball Recap: Coeur Du Christ Academy's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Coeur du Christ Academy took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Wallace, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints came out on top in a nail-biter against the Miners on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Saints, who have now won three matches in a row.

Coeur du Christ Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-13.

Madeline Junkin paced Coeur du Christ Academy's offense, picking up 20 kills. Junkin got some help from Kate Clemens and her 32 assists. Espi Klocko controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Despite the defeat, Wallace had strong showings from Anna Rehnborg, who had eight digs and one assist, and Megan Hull, who had 15 digs and 11 kills. Hull has been hot for a while, having posted six or more kills the last nine times she's played. Grace DeLano also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Coeur du Christ Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Wallace, their loss ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Coeur du Christ Academy will welcome Mullan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wallace, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Kendrick on the 4th.
