Softball Game Preview: Rudyard Bulldogs vs. Cedarville Trojans

The Rudyard Bulldogs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Cedarville Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rudyard is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on St. Ignace with a sharp 18-8 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Cedarville got the win against Pickford on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Leiah Richard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Richard was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Breah Galarowic and Hanna McCord did most of the damage at the plate: Galarowic got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while McCord got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Harlie Schumacher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got Rudyard back to even at 2-2. As for Cedarville, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Rudyard took their victory against Cedarville in their previous meeting back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
