Baseball Recap: Seton Catholic Cardinals vs. Oldenburg Academy Twisters

Seton Catholic extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They lost 11-3 to the Oldenburg Academy Twisters. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 6-0 to the Twisters when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Seton Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Murray, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Oldenburg Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the match before.

On Oldenburg Academy's side, Jacob Stenger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. The Twisters are 2-1 when Stenger posts eight or more strikeouts, but 5-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Oldenburg Academy got a massive performance out of Adam Weber, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Weber is becoming a predictor of the Twisters' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Hautman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seton Catholic will head out to square off against Bethesda Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oldenburg Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Switzerland County at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
