Softball Game Preview: Muenster Hornets vs. Crawford Pirates

The Muenster Hornets will face off against the Crawford Pirates on Saturday. Muenster will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.

Muenster is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Celeste a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Hornets have won 21 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Skyler Reed, who gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Celeste off the board. Reed has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Muenster got a big performance out of Anna Kay Hennigan, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles and one RBI. Those three doubles gave Hennigan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Crawford entered their tilt with Mart on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-0.

Crawford's victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Muenster, their win bumped their record up to 22-8-1.
