Jabrill Peppers of Don Bosco Prep is the top sophomore in the nation.

It’s not easy to improve after being named the country’s top freshman, but Don Bosco Prep’s Jabrill Peppers did just that.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Peppers, a shutdown corner a year ago, took on an additional role as the team’s starting running back and did not disappoint. He rushed for 921 yards and 19 touchdowns, helping to lead Don Bosco Prep to the No. 1 spot in the final Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

For his efforts on both sides of the football, Peppers is the U.S. Air Force National Sophomore of the Year, edging out Gainesville (Ga.) quarterback DaShaun Watson, Central (Miami) running back Joseph Yearby and South (Olathe, Kan.) two-way lineman Braden Smith.

Peppers has the athleticism and playmaking ability that make him a special player.

“I just think he’s as talented as anyone who has ever played here,” said Don Bosco Prep offensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. “The sky is the limit for him.”

Peppers headlines the 2011 U.S. Air Force Sophomore All-American Team.
Don Bosco Prep's Jabrill Peppers played an important role on the nation's top team as a sophomore. Expect to hear a lot more about him in the next two seasons.
