Basketball Recap: Warren County Comes Up Short

Warren County played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Thomson Bulldogs 80-21. While losing is never fun, the Screaming Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 28th).

Warren County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Courtney Bray, who posted 15 points. Bray has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Thomson was led to victory by Paris Rosser and Jada Kendrick. Rosser dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 12 assists, and ten steals, while Kendrick went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points in addition to six boards and five steals. That's the most steals Kendrick has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ty?Leishiah Latimore, who put up six points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Warren County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Thomson, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Warren County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-41 win against Jefferson County on the 4th. As for Thomson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-41 victory against Cedar Shoals on the 4th.
