Baseball Recap: Merrimack Takes a Loss

Merrimack had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-14-1 to make it six. They fell just short of the Nashua South Purple Panthers by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tomahawks have suffered since April 21st.

As for Nashua South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch.

For Nashua South's part, Max Demers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Demers a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Murray, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kosay Tanaka, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
