Baseball Recap: The Meadows School Finds Playoff Glory Versus Virgin Valley

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but The Meadows School had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Virgin Valley Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 back in March.

James Nelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Connor McGill was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Aiden Robertson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The win (which was The Meadows School's fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Virgin Valley, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-9-1.

The Meadows School and Virgin Valley are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Mustangs will square off against Boulder City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Virgin Valley, they will take on Pahrump Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.7, the Trojans 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
