Basketball Game Preview: Philadelphia Military Academy Knights vs. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy

The Philadelphia Military Academy Knights will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 13 losses in a row dating back to last season, Philadelphia Military Academy turned things around against Randolph Vo-Tech on Thursday. Everything went their way against Randolph Vo-Tech as they made off with a 47-22 victory. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Philadelphia Military Academy had a senior duo take command as Daijon Crawford posted 16 points and Ryan Russell had 13 points. Crawford is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Wahhaj Cheeks, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy entered their tilt with Parkway Northwest on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Hoyas by a score of 66-59. The win was all the more spectacular given KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while Parkway Northwest is ranked 221st).

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's win came from a few key players Philadelphia Military Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mekhi Anderson, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sayid Cooley, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Philadelphia Military Academy, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
