Softball Recap: New Milford's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Five must be New Milford's lucky number: they beat Mercy with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Green Wave beat the Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Green Wave as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lydia Rocky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lilly Fortier, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Cienna McNamara was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

New Milford's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Mercy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-5.

Coming up, New Milford will take on Waterford on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Green Wave 2.6, the Lancers 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Mercy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
