Preview: Blackstone-Millville Chargers vs. Nipmuc Regional Warriors
The Blackstone-Millville Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Nipmuc Regional Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Blackstone-Millville is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
On Tuesday, Blackstone-Millville came up short against Sutton and fell 53-44.
Despite their loss, Blackstone-Millville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ousman Touray, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Touray continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan McCourt, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Nipmuc Regional made off with a 51-50 victory over Hopedale.
Nipmuc Regional can attribute much of their success to Brayden Kelly, who scored 17 points, and James McKinney, who scored 16 points. McKinney hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Logan DeMarzo was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Blackstone-Millville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Nipmuc Regional, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Blackstone-Millville have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Nipmuc Regional, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 rebounds per game. Given Blackstone-Millville's sizeable advantage in that area, Nipmuc Regional will need to find a way to close that gap.
Blackstone-Millville skirted past Nipmuc Regional 61-59 in their previous matchup on January 9th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Nipmuc Regional's Chase Kelly, who scored 26 points.
