Basketball Recap: Halifax County Comes Up Short

Halifax County suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2024 on Monday. They lost 47-24 to the Person Rockets. The Comets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 51-33.

Person's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nayahana Marner, who posted 14 points and five steals. Marner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Allen, who scored ten points and three steals.

Halifax County dropped their record down to 6-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Person, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9-1.

Halifax County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-53 win against Mecklenburg County on the 28th. As for Person, they will head out on the road to square off against Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
