Softball Recap: Northport Drops Highest Score of Season Against Republic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northport). Everything went their way against the Republic Tigers on Saturday as they made off with a 23-13 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Northport has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Republic, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Northport will face off against rival Selkirk at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Republic is set to take on their familiar foe Curlew at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
