Basketball Game Preview: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Girard Yellowjackets

Conneaut Area is 0-7 against Girard since December of 2014 but things could change on Monday. The Conneaut Area Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Girard Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Conneaut Area is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Titusville 79-32 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Girard had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 58-56 victory from a begrudging Yellowjackets squad.

Conneaut Area has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Girard, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Conneaut Area was dealt a bruising 68-34 defeat at the hands of Girard in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can Conneaut Area avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
