Basketball Recap: Indian Rocks Christian Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Indian Rocks Christian can now relate to. They took a blow against the Tampa Prep Terrapins on Friday, falling 71-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Terrapins are ranked 77th).

Indian Rocks Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Murphree, who went 6-for-13 en route to 17 points and five boards. Murphree's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Austin McDonnell was another key player, putting up nine points.

Tampa Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was J'London Bivens out in front who went 6-for-8 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Bivens is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 54% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaii Levy, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 23 boards.

Indian Rocks Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Tampa Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-4.

Indian Rocks Christian has already played their next contest, a 70-50 loss against Sports Leadership & Management on the 12th. As for Tampa Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-40 win against Admiral Farragut on the 12th.
