Soccer Game Preview: Swansboro vs. Richlands

The Swansboro Pirates will challenge the Richlands Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Swansboro has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Richlands will arrive with three straight victories.

Swansboro is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Northside - Jacksonville on Tuesday. The Pirates fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Swansboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Northside - Jacksonville are ranked 146th).

Swansboro's goal came courtesy of Jacob Edwards, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Richlands hadn't done well against Croatan recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats skirted past the Cougars 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for Richlands as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Richlands' victory bumped their record up to 13-2-1. As for Swansboro, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
