Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newark). They never let the Newark Catholic Green Wave get on the board and left with a 25-0 win on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Amora Spring tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Lexi Shanaberg was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Lauren Queen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.

Newark always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Newark moved to 8-15 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Newark Catholic, they dropped their record down to 8-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Newark will venture away from home to take on Grove City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newark Catholic, they will welcome Ridgedale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Green Wave will need to watch out since the Rockets have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
