Volleyball Game Preview: Cor Jesu Academy Chargers vs. Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights

The Cor Jesu Academy Chargers are taking a road trip to square off against the Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Cor Jesu Academy made easy work of Nerinx Hall and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Markers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Cor Jesu Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Nerinx Hall between 14 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-16, 25-14.

Ursuline Academy typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Incarnate Word Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Bears 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Knights have posted against the Bears since September 26, 2017.

Incarnate Word Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-12.

Incarnate Word Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Cor Jesu Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Cor Jesu Academy took their win against Incarnate Word Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
