Football Game Preview: Buhach Colony Thunder vs. Merced Bears + Official Tickets

Buhach Colony hasn't had much luck against Merced recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Thunder will be playing at home against the Bears at 7:00 p.m.

Buhach Colony lost 26-6 to El Capitan on Friday.

Meanwhile, Merced strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over Atwater. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 32 points or more this season.

Merced's win came from a few key players Buhach Colony will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Vicente Cortez, who threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Dougie Andrews helped Cortez out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

Merced didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Isayah Smith. Merced got some further help from Brandon Peel: he made 17 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Merced's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Buhach Colony, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Buhach Colony was taken down by Merced 55-13 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Thunder were down 41-7.
